A hack day that reminded me why building something fast is worth it.

Not a typical hack day

What stood out immediately was the constraint. Everyone was working in the same general direction — how to collaborate effectively with Claude Code — yet the projects that emerged were all very different. That shared framing made it easier to go deep instead of wide: a steady, quiet momentum, people fully absorbed, occasionally surfacing to compare notes, then slipping back into their own flow. Thoughtful and unforced.

What I built

I used the day to build MindShift, an AI mind-mapping tool for moments when things feel stuck, foggy, or hard to articulate. The part I most enjoyed building was the lens system — reframe the same plan through Socrates, a Future Self, or a Ruthless Strategist, and the priorities and assumptions shift while the structure holds. The AI doesn't tell you what to do; it helps you see your situation more clearly. MindShift has since grown into its own project — its full story lives in the MindShift building. What I took from the day was less about the artifact and more about how I want to build with AI going forward: less optimization, more perspective.
