From a private story to a shipped, instrumented game.
The system under the romance
Underneath the dating sim is a real system: a three-act structure, and a scoring model where the player earns a sign of affection by clearing a 10-of-18 affinity threshold. The dialogue is authored so players have to actively advance and absorb each reaction before a result resolves — a deliberate choice for comprehension and agency over speed. Romance is the surface; the mechanics are what make a choice feel earned.
Designed, built, and instrumented
I shipped it on vanilla HTML/CSS/JS on GitHub Pages, wired GA4 to the full funnel, and rebuilt onboarding around live drop-off data — the avatar-selection step became a snap carousel after analytics pinpointed it as the friction point. It took 1st place at the festival's GitHub hackathon, but the part I'm proudest of is the loop: it's evidence I can take an experience from character and narrative all the way through instrumentation, iteration, and ship.
